Alcopopshire 1997 (approximately)
Every now and again a ‘new drug scare’ takes the nation, or at least the media by storm. Alcopops, sweet shop flavoured alcohol aimed at young people, were ’allegedly’ developed in the late 90’s because the alcohol industry was so worried that drugs had become normalised and a generation of young people were turning away from booze. The ‘Alcopopshire’ poster and a series of alcohol information cards were developed with schoolchildren in Wales.
